About Yala
Yala National Park is Sri Lanka's best-known safari park and is famous for its leopards. It also protects elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles and many birds across scrub, lagoons and coast.
Safaris run by jeep, usually at dawn or in the afternoon, when the animals are most active and the light is soft for photographs.

Frequently asked questions
Will I see a leopard in Yala?
Yala has one of the highest leopard densities in the world, so your chances are good, but wildlife is never guaranteed.
Is it better to go in the morning or afternoon?
Both are good. The dawn safari has cooler weather and active animals. The afternoon safari can be quieter. Many guests do one of each.
When is Yala closed?
The park closes for a period each year, usually in the dry season. The dates can change, so we check them for you when planning your trip.
Can Pearl Asia Tours arrange Yala transport and the safari?
Yes. We can plan your transport, a hotel near the park and arrange a jeep safari as part of your private tour.
